If I Was a Billionaire: My Top Four Car Picks For Leisure

cory-fitzgerald September 10, 2018

Hello and welcome back to Morgan Trucking! It’s me, your best buddy Cory and I’m back with another car centered discussion! Last time, we talked about how movies can play the part of a rather fascinating and effective car advertisement.

For today’s discussion, I wanted to bring it a little closer to home. We all have dreams and I’m pretty sure that we’ve all fantasized at one point or another about what sort of things we would spent our money on if we had a limitless supply of it. So I wanted to talk about my top four car picks for leisure—you know, if I happened to become a billionaire in my lifetime.

#1) Aston Martin Vanquish

This car is definitely on my wish list! Whether you’re aiming for the first generation or the second one, the power and finesse that this car has surely needs to be admired. It’s a perfect car of leisure with it being a 2-seater vehicle. You can simply imagine it being used for long car drives in the country or zipping past metro traffic.

#2) Bentley Continental GT

Since its debut in 2003, this car was a good addition to my “if I was rich” list. While it is not as expensive or as exclusive as the other Bentleys that have been developed since, I definitely prefer this one. Much like my first choice, this is a two-door car and is perfect for private or intimate car rides.

#3) Rolls-Royce Dawn Drophead

It may have a funny sounding name but don’t get it twisted with other kinds of cars out there. This is special because it’s the very first fully realized and fully sized car which was created after the war. After it dropped in 1949, it has continues to enamor people with its sleek lines. While only having two doors, it seats up to 5 people.

#4) Ferrari 250 GTO

This car is one of the rarer cars which are on this list. Ferrari made just a few and by a few, I mean they didn’t even make anything over 40. If you ever wanted to get your hands on this one, you had best prepare to pay millions and scour the different auctions around the world for anyone foolish enough to let it go.

So there you have it! These are my top four picks for leisure cars. Now I’d like to pass on a question to you fine folks: if you were a billionaire, what leisure cars would be in your top picks?

Three Movies That Worked As Effective Car Advertising

cory-fitzgerald September 5, 2018

Hello and welcome back to Morgan Trucking! As always, I’m your good pal Cory and I’m here to bring about another tasteful discussion about cars in general. Last time, we talked about how cars had a pretty massive impact upon several industries.

Today, I wanted to spark a discussion regarding popular culture. Cars and automobiles have been something that has been pretty present in things that are generally considered to be amazing—especially in the field of entertainment. Of course, I’m talking about movies.

There have been some movies which worked as pretty effective car advertising. Here are three of them:

The Italian Job

If there was any movie which highlighted the capability of the Mini Cooper, it would be this movie. The BMW made machine really stole the spotlight when Charlize Theron’s character breezed past traffic and managed to inch its way into a miniscule parking space.

Then, later on, the Mini Cooper (three of them) was customized to carry gold and getaway from hostile people.

Transformers

Of course this movie had to be part of this list! The transformers movie was a pretty great commercial for a lot of brands like Porsche, Chevrolet, Audi and so many others.

When the Transformers movie first came out in 2007, it was such a visual feast and a triumph for showing off the capability of various cars—not considering the fact that they turn into giant fighting robots, of course. Every kid suddenly wanted a Camaro after this movie came out so that’s pretty good advertising if you ask me.

The Fast and the Furious

The year 2001 introduced the world to a rather rabid appreciation for illegal street races. Not only did it emphasize how a car could perform once it’s been customized but it also gave any person who’s been itching for a gutsy movie something to really bite into.

If there was anything that helped to revitalize the love for American muscle cars, this movie would be it.

Movies have a pretty good way to provide not just a feast for the senses but a way to capture the imagination of its audiences. It’s also a really effective way of emphasizing a particular brand over another. So now I’d like to pass a question off to you fine folk: what other movies do you think worked as an efficient car ad?

Industrial Impact: What Fields Really Changed Because of Cars?

cory-fitzgerald August 31, 2018

Hello and welcome to the very first blog post on Morgan Trucking! I’m super stoked to have you here with me today. If you’ve checked out my “About Me” page, you’ll know that my name is Cory and I am an absolute car nut/enthusiast.

Today, I wanted to explore a more practical discussion pertaining to cars. Specifically, I wanted to really look at the industrial impact of automobiles. Isn’t it worth wondering: what fields really changed because of automobiles?

Racing

The world of racing was solely restricted to either horses or dogs. When automobiles were introduced to the general market, it swiftly eclipsed the popularity of horse and dog races. Now, people were more interested in seeing the speed and maneuverability of this brand new invention.

To this day, car races are an international spectacle which is worth billions. Different brands have thrown in their hats into the ring of vehicle racing.

Transportation

Before cars and trucks came along, people primarily transported goods through horse-drawn carts and trains. This meant that perishable goods needed to be timed precisely and any sort of delay would mean massive losses.

When cars and trucks were introduced, it greatly changed the transportation of goods. There was no longer a limit to how much could be carried. Refrigerated trucks now enabled the transportation of goods which need low to zero temperatures.

Conveyance

Most people tend to correlate private and public conveyance with transportation. At any given point, they would be right. However, for today’s discussion, I wanted to place a distinction between transportation of goods and the cars and automobiles which are used primarily for conveyance.

People used to travel using carts which were drawn by horses and other forms of animals. When cars were introduced, they greatly changed how people travelled both privately and on a public level. Cars enabled the birth of busses and cabs.

So you see, vehicles did have a pretty massive effect and impact on several fields and industries. It’s still pretty humbling to think that something that we’ve created has effectively shifted the way certain things are done. Now I’d like to pass a question to you: what other fields do you think were impacted because of cars and automobiles?
